A group of us went down to Zach’s after ‘attempting’ to watch the Hull City V West Ham match in Staks last Sunday. I say ‘attempted’ as it was clearly advertised as having the match on but we got there only to find that they couldn’t get the damn channel so 4 pints later we were feeling peckish. We chose Zach’s due to its location as we were only a stones throw away and I couldn’t bear a trek anywhere else with a hungry stomach.
The Weatherspoons bar offered a massive menu, anything you fancied was right there on a cardboard menu in front of you, hence why it took about 20 minutes for me to decide what to line my belly with.
Despite it being Sunday, I’m not really into Sunday Lunches so I opted for Fish & Chips, the perfect after pint meal which was also on the ‘2 for 7.95’ menu. Bargain. We waited around 15 minutes for our food, which wasn’t bad at all but when it came it did seem a little on the sparse side.
I shouldn’t complain really, for 7.95 for 2 meals I was hardly expecting a feast fit for a king and I suppose what I got was exactly what was stated on the menu, ‘Fish and Chips’ although no peas and I’m sure they were being a little tight on the Chips front.
The battered Fish was delish, crispy, no bones and pearly white and chips are, well chips aren’t they? Smothered in ketchup from the condiments table, the lot was wolfed down within 10 minutes with not even a scrap of batter left on the plate. It was hard to believe that food was ever on the plate in the first place.
I was left full and very satisfied with my meal, even after thinking that I didn’t get much when it first came, twas obviously ‘eyes too big for my belly’ hunger and for just 7.95 for 2 I’ll definitely be going back for this Fish dish sometime soon.
Recommended.
